Podiatry

Podiatry is a healthcare service which plays a key role in the prevention of lower limb problems through a programme of triage, screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and foot health education to patients with a lower limb condition or systemic condition that affects the lower limb.

Our Podiatrists are Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) registered practitioners and are supported by a dedicated team of foot care assistants and administrative support.

The trust offers assessment diagnosis and management of a range of foot problems arising from multiple causes, including:

• wound care: exudate management, debridement, offloading

• assessment and management of foot problems relating to specific conditions including:

  • diabetes

  • vascular disease

  • orthopaedic conditions

  • falls prevention

  • nail surgery and referral to podiatric surgery where needed

  • soft tissue disorders including coms, and calluses

  • home visits for patients who are housebound (bed or chair-bound)

  • health education and health promotion
